There's a vsauce? video about this. Basically, old people only look old to us because the entire generation that they are a part of all are generally wearing the same style of clothes/hair-cuts/appearances as when they were younger. To them, that's always been "in style" since their youth, so they continue to dress that way. However to us, we see their appearance and associate with "old person". Really interesting phenomenon when you think harder about it.

The Koh-i-Noor is in the Queen Mother's Crown, not the Imperial State Crown in the photo. The diamond in the photo came from South Africa, after British colonization of it...
