You know that guy makes a perfect old fashioned. Muddles that shit right, has the correct bitters, made his own simple syrup...and no doubt top shelf bourbon.
The perfect old fashioned is with a sugar cube, not simple syrup.
最正宗的古典鸡尾酒得用方糖,不是糖浆。

话又说回来……完美的鸡尾酒还得是你自己好这口的那种,所以你说的完全没毛病。干杯!

Thank you for not being a stuck up bar tender. I have a large bourbon collection and drink the good stuff neat, however, I love a good bourbon and coke and people lose their minds for some reason.
As the ten year bartender of the Pendennis Club, claimant to being the birthplace of the beverage, I disagree. Also...never work in a place that is the "Home Of" something, because that will be your life there, making that freaking thing.

He looks like a guy who was in ‘Nam who never quite readjusted to civilian life again but now runs a moderately successful sailboat tours company in Key West while also running his own bar He takes a 28 year-old Tom Cruise under his wing and schools him in waves, whiskey, and women after Cruise’s fiancé ditches him for another guy and after Tom abruptly walks out of his finance job on Wall Street Together, they conquer life’s big challenges and questions and our favorite vet and his luscious mane and beard steer our story’s once-wayward protagonist back to shore where he ditches his sea legs and winds up shacking up with prime, 80s angel Elizabeth Shue for the rest of his days Naturally, Cruise takes over The Legend’s sail tours and booze operations after the latter man loses his life in a tragic sailing accident that occurs during the Third Act
Sometimes there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man. And I'm talkin' about the Dude here. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's the Dude, in Los Angeles. And even if he's a lazy man - and the Dude was most certainly that. Quite possibly the laziest in Los Angeles County, which would place him high in the runnin' for laziest worldwide. But sometimes there's a man, sometimes, there's a man. Aw. I lost my train of thought here
To this day no one knows what happened to the rest. But one thing is certain, the man who came back has been holding up the lives of the 3 other passengers on board pretending to be all of them.

Doubtful. Op has one post(this one) and then 4 comments from 11 months ago and that's it. How does this happen? I have a hard time believing that someone can just lurk for a year without doing anything, then post a picture that gets to the front page and thousands of likes with zero interaction in that thread.

This makes me wonder. Would Uncle Billy, in the 80s, think, “man, the 40’s don’t seem so far away.”
这不禁让我琢磨。80年代的比利叔叔会不会想:“老兄,40年代看起来也没那么遥远啊。”
oiuvnp116 赞2020/3/6
I wonder this too. I was a teenager in the 80s and the 40s seemed like a *way* long time ago back then. I had a 63 Impala in high school and it seemed like an ancient dinosaur (comparitivley it would be like having a 2003 model car today). Sometimes I think it seemed like it was farther away because of the cars, black and white television, and the clothes. I also wonder if younger people feel like the 80s seemed as far away as I felt like the 40s were when I was a teen. And for some reason the 2000s really messed with my head as far as numbers go. I still feel like I've been cheated 10 years. It's weird.
I feel like the 1980s are definitely way closer to today than the 1940s were to the 1980s. Alot of our music, style, and culture today are reminiscent of that of the 1980s and 1990s and watching movies like Fast Times or BTTF really shows just how similar times are now to back then, but comparing those movies to those of the 1940’s, everything (clothing, way of talking, culture) seems completely different
> We in the future now. I would've been pretty bummed out in 1980 if I knew we'd still be rolling around on the ground with rubber wheels in 2020. Maybe we can use these computers to design flying cities so they will have to give us the flying cars we deserve.
I think most would consider the 1980s to be the beginning of the modern era in a lot of ways so I agree with you. I also think the counterculture movement in the late 1960s/early 1970s is why the 1940s felt so much further back than the 1980s feel; the 1940s were part of bygone era that was swept away by Vietnam, the Beatles, JFK and the fallout thereof. The 1980s, by contrast, aren’t foreign. Yet.
That's an interesting point. It's kind of hard to fathom how radically everything in the culture changed between about 1961 and 1968. We certainly haven't had anything close to that kind of revolution since then.
I asked my parents (both mid 50s) how they viewed the 70s and 80s when they hit 30. They said it all felt like a blur and meshed together. They said the only notable cultural change you could psychically witness were the clothes people wore and the music you heard. Outside of that they couldn't really pinpoint a time where things just went from one decade to another.
We all know that the 80's ended with Michael Jacksons transformation from a black dude to a plastic dude.
我们都知道80年代的终结,就是迈克尔·杰克逊从一个黑人哥们儿蜕变成了一个塑料哥们儿。

I’m in my early 30s and I feel that way about the last two decades, the aughts and the teens. It seems like a blur. The 90s on the other hand feel distinctly different. Another thought that I’ve had before is that the true, cultural decades that define the time are the “between decades,” if you will. The mid-70s to the mid-80s seem like a more cohesive time than the 70s or 80s alone. Same with, say, 55-65 or 95-05. Things seem, to me anyway, to be more alike during those periods than 1950 to 1960.
I’m 31 and kind of agree on this past decade being a blur but the aughts, to me, felt very defined. It was the decade of war and fear that ended with hope with Obama. It was a very culturally defining decade with many big moments (Bush/Gore, 9/11, both wars, the financial crises/recession, Obama getting elected, social media becoming a thing etc). This past decade was really mundane in comparison, but the country needed a breather after the aughts I feel. Trump was probably the most significant thing to happen imo.
Yes homo from me. All the way homo for this man. And I'm not even gay. Someone tell my wife I love her, but I must pursue this urge. Where can I find the man today?
I’m *maybe homo* on this one. If he talks like Sam Elliott I’m in. Or Sam Neill Or Sam Rockwell Or Sam Shepard Ok, fuck it. I’ve been in since the get go.
I'm a bi dude and I definitely felt hormonally invested with this photo.

SapoMine35 赞2020/3/6
Things I thought after seeing this...
1. Damn, that's a good looking gentleman.
2. The 80s weren't so long ago, oh fuck. 3. What watch is that?
That's an amazing photo for it being shot in the 80's. Not saying film or any cameras back then weren't more than sufficient it's just wild to see a photo on film be this high of quality after this amount of time.
Yeah, I’m not too sure about this one... The lack of grain is what’s throwing me off, considering it should be a fairly high ISO film. There weren’t many formats back then that were capable of shooting such a sharp image in low light with movement like you’d find on a sail boat. Add in the fact that OP only has like 4 comments and this single post in their history and I’m not convinced that the story is 100% accurate. I’d love to be proven wrong though! At the least I’d guess that this picture was from the 90s, not the 80s.
