That dress was crazy. As a kid, my parents had a copy of this movie, and I loved it. As an adult, and a woman, I dont know how this was Marilyns fat era. No Spanx, no Skims, no strapless bra or tape or anything, and she fit *that dress like that?*

is referring to that particular dress from Some Like It Hot. While silhouettes of the era were commonly achieved with undergarments, this dress famously did not allow for any. There was even a cut out lower down to emphasize she was nude under the dress.

One thing I've noticed with bikini photos from the 50s-60s is there is a difference in torso shape than there is today. I wonder if the long term use of girdles etc. had a slight impact on the unrestricted body. Don't know, just speculation. Here are some examples, with the ribs a big flared then the lower belly almost bent inward.

She was passed around among those disgusting men like a piece of meat.
