I agree with you. As a young man I worked in an office building where a new one was being constructed across from me. I watching them work was uneasy at times. The way they hang, and climb down beans using their arms holding the beam and their feet pressed as they walked down the beam. Hanging iron is not for the meek. They just see the world different c
Yep, I knew a guy that tied rebar, his 4 man team drank a 30 pack at lunch every single day. Rotated who brought the 30 pack too like it was an assigned part of being on the crew.
I’ve watched those guys tie rebar all day (crane operator) I couldn’t imagine doing that work and not drinking like a fucking fish. Shit looks miserable!
They don't even wear their safety vests and tethers! They are an insane breed.
他们甚至连反光背心和安全绳都不戴!这帮人简直是疯子。

That’s because they don’t fear death, they hope for it.
那是因为他们根本不怕死,甚至还挺期待死亡的。

Most of us live for that shit. I was averaging around 500 - 700 ml of vodka (via small glass, 100ml bottles) + a couple of 0.5 l beers to level me while we worked in the foundation of a big building. I think we were at -3. Probably different system here, than in the States for example, but i am sure that the mentality of every single ironworker - rodbuster in the world is somewhat similar. Can't be a normal dude to deliberately pick the hardest job in heavy construction. I've been in several different crews, most dudes are under the influence of something, booze, drugs in all forms. On another project, although a lot smaller, there was a time i was averaging 2 grams of speed a day, with some energy drinks and literally no food. But the rule was that i wouldn't take anything after 14h, so i could get down enough to catch anything even close to a few z's. And after some time it became a routine and i was actually able to function completely normally even after work with my then girl, and even timed my takes during the day with such precision so that i come down within a 15 minute window. I had a neat way of transporting it. Thankfully, not an addictive personality, so coming off anything isn't a big deal, even after a couple of months of usage, as i always looked at it as nothing more than fuel. I always let it work for me. Thought to share my experience. Best regards from a Serbian rodbuster!
