The sheer swag of it. The confidence. The hand tucked in modesty, the scarf necktie (?) the shorts. A little lord. I get emotional when I see children's pictures in this sub. I hope they had happy lives.

Old photos like that are surreal to me…. The little boy was as alive in that moment as we are now. Went on to live his entire life and is now long gone. Makes me wonder if some random person will ever look at my photo years after my passing and give me a glancing thought.

Thank you so much for this link, those photos were incredible. The second one struck me in such a strange way. There are so many photographs of me and my family among those same scrubby Massachusetts pines. The floor of the forest perpetually orange with their needles, the pops of deep green from the short, sparse bushes. It’s like we could’ve existed at the same time there in that photograph.
