When I was little my parents took me to some place that had an area where you could go in and hand feed kangaroos (the smaller eastern grey). There was also a couple of female tourists, from somewhere in Europe, there at the same time feeding the roos. After we left the kangaroo feeding area the two girls told my parents that they only felt brave enough to feed the kangaroos because they saw me, a child feeding them and assumed it was safe. My mum, never one to beat around the bush said to the girls: “Didn’t you notice how close we were standing to our daughter? We don’t trust them, they’re still wild animals. We were close by just in case something happened.” And that properly freaked the two girls out.
我小时候，我爸妈带我去了一个地方，那里有一个区域，你可以进去亲手喂袋鼠（是那种体型小一点的东部灰袋鼠）。
当时还有几个女游客，是欧洲某个地方来的，也在那里喂袋鼠。
我们离开袋鼠喂食区后，那两个女孩跟我爸妈说，她们之所以敢喂袋鼠，是因为看到我，一个小孩都在喂，就觉得应该很安全。
我妈，她向来是个直肠子，直接对那两个女孩说：“你们没注意到我们离我女儿站得有多近吗？我们不信任它们，它们毕竟还是野生动物。我们站那么近就是以防万一。”
这下可把那两个女孩彻底吓坏了。

We have these sort of pet farms in Australia, where parents take their children to feed little wombats and koalas and kangaroos. We like to joke that you havent grown up in Australia unless your parents have given you a bag of roo feed and locked you in an enclosure and subsequently you've been beaten up by the roo for the food. It honestly happens.
