Christian fundamentalism is also bad - but it's far far far less present than islamic fundamentalism. Additionally, Christian fundamentalists aren't executing gay people, beheading people who draw god, or oppressing women in any kind of systemic way. We can agree that Christian Fundamentalists are crazy, while acknowledging that Islamic Fundamentalists are a far more serious problem.

Should be mentioned that his claim to fame in The Netherlands has nothing to do with his descendants of Van Gogh. As I experienced it, that was just a fun fact. He was famous as a filmmaker, television interviewer and all out endangered terrible of the Netherlands. You could count on his opinion on all kinds of subjects, most of the time pretty controversial. Personally I really liked his addition to the Dutch media landscape, didn’t agree on everything.

But here in the west we're massively and openly supporting the Palestinian cause, which almost 2 years ago killed over 700 civilians in a couple of hours. Hunted them down like wild animals. They openly announced we Europeans are next when they're done with the Jews. In November 2024, Israeli soccer players came to the Netherlands for a friendly match, they were confronted everywhere by Palestinian flags (not exaggerating, you'll see them everywhere in our bigger cities). They got in to a scuffle with some locals, as they instigated the scuffle, they were taken away by police. 2 weeks of jew hunting in the streets of Amsterdam was the result, any Jew, israeli or local, didnt matter. They were checked on their religion or passports and severely beaten, the only reason there have been no deadly casualties is our ME (Mobile Eenheid) and half the countries police force where drafted to our capital. In the weeks following it was known the hunting of the Jews, was planned weeks in advance and hundreds of muslims from all over the country traveled to our capital to participate. I'm still shocked at what happened, this was an attack on the liberal freedom my country stands for. But it's muffled over, I brought it up on Reddit before, always downplayed. People were hunted for their religious beliefs in my country that hasn't happened since the Nazi's came barging in 85 years ago. People can twist the words all they want, doesn't change what happened.

Disclaimer: I wish this piece of shit an even worse treatment. But he's in the EBI (extra guarded prison). Believe me, that's not an hotel like experience like you see in regular Dutch prisons. I think I'd rather be dead than be in a cell for 23,5 hours a day having basically no human contact except for with the guards. Guards that had to wear masks for awhile because another famous detainee used his network to threaten the families of said guards. Again, this human filth doesn't deserve anything better, but let's not pretend the EBI is a fun experience.
