And have the mother survive. Only a few generations back, childbirth was the most dangerous thing most women ever did. Still is in poor countries. EDIT; I don’t live in the US, but thank you for enlightening me on just how bad the situation is for women over there!
而且还得是母亲也平安无事。往前推也就几代人，生孩子那可是大多数女性这辈子经历过最危险的事了。在贫困国家现在依然如此。

Even before those laws, we had one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the developed world. Now, the infant mortality rate is increasing because babies who have no chance of survival (missing organs, genetic defects, serious physical malformations etc...)are being birthed more often.
就算在这些法律出台之前，我们的孕产妇死亡率在发达国家里也是数一数二的高。现在，婴儿死亡率也在上升，因为那些根本没法活下来的宝宝（比如器官缺失、遗传缺陷、严重的身体畸形等等）被迫出生的频率变高了。

My oldest is pregnant, the absolute CRAP care she has received has had her change doctors TWICE! And we have AWESOME insurance, literally we pay 0 and it’s from my husband’s company. They pay for everything, every new test, EVERYTHING! The actions of a doctor and their staff, has been so dismissive! We went to the ER and she was actually checked out and DID have an issue! I had my kids in the late 90,s/early 2000’s and if I would’ve had to deal with this bull$&^%, I probably would’ve chosen not to have children!
我大女儿怀孕了，她受到的那些狗屁医疗服务简直烂透了，逼得她不得不换了两次医生！而且我们明明有超级好的保险，真的是一分钱不用掏，是我老公公司给买的。什么都报销，每一项新检查，所有的一切全报！
那些医生和医护人员的态度简直傲慢得要命！有次我们去了急诊，她明明真的查出了问题，却还得不到重视！
我生我孩子的时候是在90年代末/21世纪初，要是当时我得面对这种破事儿，我可能根本就不会选择要孩子了！

my youngest is pregnant (yay for us grandmas! first for me) and so far things have gone well. but holy shit am i scared, things have changed so much.
我家小闺女怀孕了（当姥姥/奶奶啦，太棒了！我还是头一回呢），目前一切都挺顺利的。但我特么简直快吓死了，现在的世道变了太多了。

I know Danish partisan, Soren Lauritzen, born 1923, he was one of the triplets (and the only boy). It's even more impressive seeing how his mother was 38 years old when she gave birth to them. Soren didn't grow to be tall much to his dismay, he was way shorter from his sisters, but otherwise all were healthy and happy
我认识一位丹麦抵抗战士叫索伦·劳里岑（Soren Lauritzen），出生于1923年，他是三胞胎之一（也是唯一的男孩）。更令人惊叹的是，他母亲生下他们的时候已经38岁了。索伦没长多高，这让他挺郁闷的，他比他那俩姐妹矮多了，但除此之外，他们三个都很健康快乐。

That just may be his smile, lol. My daughter was impossible to get to smile for pictures as a baby and toddler. She finally told me one day when she was 4, “I am smiling, this is my smile.” She practiced in the mirror for days preparing for her kindergarten school photo to have a cheerful smile. Some people just have a harder time letting their light shine through.
那可能只是他的笑容，哈哈哈。我女儿小时候和学步那会儿，想让她对着镜头笑简直是不可能。有天她四岁的时候终于跟我说：“我在笑啊，这就是我的笑容。”为了幼儿园的个人照能笑得开心点，她还在镜子前练了好几天。有些人确实比较难把那种神采展现出来。

It was quite the news story back in the day! I believe my grandma said it was on the front page of the paper but I could be wrong about that.

Beautiful babies!! Brought back memories of my identical twin aunts and the pranks they pulled on us kids because we couldn’t tell them apart. Bet these three had a lot of fun!

They all look so happy and healthy! My great-grandmother had surprise twins around this time, and I know multiples can be a struggle in any era.

It looks like the dad is holding identical twins. The baby that mom is holding is bigger. So happy! It would be great to see other pictures if their lives as they grew older.
