I included an image of Thad, who was an amazing survivor who managed to break down a door even though both of his legs were broken in multiple places. When he was found and taken to the hospital he had significant internal bleeding and was "hours away from passing." The person who kidnapped him and murdered another kid a year prior is currently in prison for a 100 year sentence. He stated that he did not remember committing his crimes. When the police examined his journal, they found a to-do list full of people's names that included the categories "Can Wait," "Get To Now," and "The Leg Thing." The argument that it wasn't pre-meditated obviously did not fly. 14 yo Chris Steiner was his previous victim from the year prior, but sadly he died from his bone injuries. It is fortunate, however, that Thad bravely escaped, otherwise many other children could have been killed. I found this case interesting because I had never heard of it before despite how gruesome it was. I have so many questions. For starters, where the hell were Clark’s parents? At 17 he kidnapped and tortured someone for 2 days in his home and they didn’t notice? Not to mention he had done this at least once before a year prior. Secondly, who the hell shoots a 13 year old kidnapping and torture victim? Also, where did the money he was awarded in court go?

A while after Thad escaped, while he was home waiting for when he would testify at Clark's trial, a friend of Clark's, who I believe was all of 15 years old, rang the Phillips family doorbell, and when Thad opened the door, Clark's friend shot him, I believe to scare him out of testifying.

I haven't heard of this case specifically so idk how isolated the house was or wasn't bit my mind goes to the Sylvia Likens case where several adults heard her crying in pain and stories about her torture from thier children and still did nothing....they might have heard him and just figured it was kids rough housing too hard, or a kid getting punished and figured it was none of their business but still....so sad

Why is it always WISCONSIN!? And it’s always some small town that the most grisly murderers come from Wisconsin. Is it the amount of snow? Are people snowed in and just dwell for months before mentally snapping? Also it’s bonkers that the killer was only 17. When both Dahmer and Ed Gein are from this state you begin to wonder why Wisconsin produces serial killers.
