Supposedly Fred completely doted on Donald and lavished praise on him, even when Donald was only able to doing any business because of Fred's contacts and name, and even went so far as to give Donald credit for his own business accomplishments, which is probably why he has such insane, bulltproof self confience even now. I suspect Fred always blamed himself for Donald's elder brother becoming an alcoholic because he bullied him so much and tried to make up for it by spoiling Donald.
