A decade or two. (People aren't supposed to have favorite children.)

Unfortunately it happens.

You need to decide who the favorite is in case you have to make a Sophie's Choice, that's just good parenting.
I mean I’m technically the favorite now but it’s only because I’m still breathing.

He contracted smallpox during this time, and it's believed he may have also been suffering from mercury poisoning and possibly even a rare genetic condition... That coupled with bouts of depression, extreme stress, political pressures, and countless tragedies/traumas throughout his life.
I wonder if he took breaks at all, or ate. Or if he even had an appetite.

I just recently got an old First Ladies' cookbook that talks about the favorite foods of each presidential household. Lincoln's section mentioned that he was pretty indifferent to food, but did like chicken fricassee. I think he was kind of just a pragmatist - food is food, be grateful you have some.
You probably have the best insight into this thread out of anyone. Keep on, Queen!

As someone with a connective tissue disorder, it's hell. It's often called a 'dynamic disability' because the symptoms are in different parts and systems in your body from day to day and your pain levels ebb and flow.
Not to mention he barely slept from all the vampire hunting.
dank_tre21 赞2024/7/26
He certainly aged dramatically. As certainly as there’s drastically different lighting that enhances the shadows on his face.

Being president is hella stressful. Obama aged 16 years in 8.

Most US presidents age drastically during their time in office. Be it 4 or 8 yrs. The stress is overwhelming.

Dude profited from being in office while doing nothing worthwhile for average people. Course he didn’t age like other presidents.
I was about to say exactly this. Hell, he aged 30 years in 8

Yet somehow he only got finer as he aged

he has some modern looking model hair style on the left.

Civil War will do that to you. We need him now.
No doubt he was beaten up by the experience, but some of the difference might be attributed to different lighting (you can see from the sheen on his vest in the left and the absence of a pronounced shadow under the chin that he was lit much more from the front than in the second picture), and sometimes even different photographic media, which capture different wavelengths of light. The picture on the left also was of him as a nominee, so it was important to make this rather odd looking man look as handsome as possible. The picture on the right was like: "look what they did to my boy"
Cillian Murphy should totally portray Lincoln at some point

War time leaders pay a great price. Look at Zelensky.of ukraine. the man has aged a decade

IIRC his physician believed the stress would kill him. By the notes the doctor took, historical and medical researchers believed Abe had what we would today call clinical depression.
I heard he was 6' 4'' and could dunk. Love a president with a decent vertical.

I’ve nearly completed Erik Larson’s new book, “The Demon of Unrest”. Lincoln went through some troubling times so it’s understandable. FYI, the parallels of then and today, in terms of a country divided, are strikingly familiar and very concerning.
it was that east coast diet. he needed that midwest food

I would argue that the photo on the left was deliberately FADED to not show the facial lines that HE ALREADY HAD by 1860.... (Either that, or the photo on the right was ENHANCED to show his facial lines....) Granted, they wasn't such a thing as "Photoshop" back then, but I am sure that once modern photography was invented, the earliest professionals realized that photos could be DOCTORED for impact, either positively OR negatively....
